Ideally positioned at the southern end of the Mooloolaba Esplanade and only a short walk from the beach is one of the Sunshine Coast's most popular tourist attractions, Underwater World. It is the largest oceanarium in the Southern Hemisphere and features over 20,000 sea creatures including hundreds of tropical fish, giant gropers, stingrays, sawfish, Asian small-clawed otters, 8 species of shark and much, much more.
At Underwater World there are 16 animal presentations each day so there is always something to delight children and adults alike. Also you will be able to get up close and personal to many marine creatures with the underwater Shark Dive Xtreme encounter, swimming with the resident seals or holding a starfish in the 'touch and feel' lagoon.
The award winning Underwater World has 11 unique zones for you to explore including Shark Shipwreck, Coral Cove, Bay of Rays, Seal Island, Otter Empire, Fresh and Freaky, Billabongs and Backyards, Touch and Tell, Weird and Wonderful, Turtle Temple and Crawly Creatures, as well as an 80 metre walk through tunnel and extensive gift shop where you can purchase souvenirs.
