If you have half a day to spare whilst visiting Perth then why not spend it in the relaxed surrounds of the Perth Zoo. It is ideally positioned on the banks of the beautiful Swan River just a short 5 minute drive south of the Perth CBD. Even though it is a small zoo there is still plenty of fascinating animal attractions, exciting exhibits, special presentations and conservation information available at the Perth Zoo. This includes such things as watching the animals being fed by one of the keepers, getting up close to the giraffes at the Savannah Outlook Tower, admiring the small sun bears and cool little penguins.
One of the best ways to get around and see the Perth Zoo is on one of the free 1 hour guided tours, where you will be able to learn more about the native Australian, African and Asian animals in the reptile enclosure, walk-though primate area, Asian rainforest, African savannah, bird aviary and nocturnal animal house. There are lots of picnic areas where you can have a relaxed lunch and eben a delightful cafe where parents can have a snack and coffee whilst they watch their children ride on the restored and historic carousel at Perth's Zoo.
