The Polly Woodside is an immaculately preserved sailing ship that was originally built in 1885 and previously operated as a cargo and trading vessel between England and South America. This 3 masted, iron hulled vessel provides travellers with a real experience of what it was like aboard a late nineteenth century sailing ship.
The Polly Woodside is located at the wharf area of the Yarra River in front of the Exhibition and Convention Centre. In order to get to the Polly Woodside you can either drive there and park at the South Wharf Shopping Centre or Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, walk from the Southern Cross train station south along Spencer Street over the bridge and along the river in front of the Exhibition Centre or take the 96, 109 or 112 tram and get off at the tram stop on the southern bank of the Yarra River and walk along the river in front of the Exhibition Centre.
Kids young and old will enjoy visiting the Polly Woodside and on the first Sunday of every month there is a pirate treasure hunt, face painting, tug of war and lots of other fun pirate games.
