The Alma Park Zoo is located in the outer northern suburb of Dakabin which is about 35 kilometres from the Brisbane city centre. This popular Brisbane tourist attraction is really only accessible if you have a car but it definitely well worth the short drive if you are staying in the city, especially if you are have young children or want to get up close with some unique Australian wildlife. In fact the Alma Park Zoo has a wide range of exotic animals like red pandas, monkeys, leopards, camels, buffaloes, iguanas, water dragons and Asian sun bears as well as numerous Australian animals including kangaroos, koalas, snakes, freshwater crocodiles, Tasmanian devils, wallabies, dingoes and various birds.
The Alma Park Zoo is ideally positioned amoungst 18 hectares of tropical palms and plants, providing you with a relaxing atmosphere whilst you stroll through the gardens admiring all of the animals on display. There are feedings for most of the animals every day, zoo keeper presentations and unique animal experiences like being able to cuddle a koala bear. You can also relax in the lush tropical surrounds and enjoy a meal from the onsite cafe, or alternatively you can bring you own picnic lunch and make use of the free BBQ and picnic facilities that are available at the Alma Park Zoo.
