Take a walk Around Cataract Gorge

Just a short 2 minute drive from the Launceston city is the picturesque Cataract Gorge with is children's play area, outdoor swimming pool, picnic tables and expansive grassed areas. There is also native wildlife including peacocks, a relaxing restaurant and a kiosk where you can get delicious afternoon teas and snacks. Visitors can also take the 15 minute walk from the city along the Tamar River cliff face to the Cataract Gorge. You can even take a ride on the longest single span chair lift, which spans the South Esk River and this magnificent natural basin.

Family Friendly

It is a great place to spend a relaxing afternoon, with lots of good short walks for kids as well as older people. There is also lots of grassy areas in which to have a picnic, a cafe serving delicious afternoons teas and an exciting chairlift that takes you right across the gorge.
