Merimbula is ideally situated about half way between Sydney and Melbourne on the South Coast of NSW, which is commonly referred to at the 'Sapphire Coast'. How To Get There : In order to get to the NSW South Coast township of Merimbula you will need to come via road. You can either catch a bus from Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra or (probably best) decide to drive your own car to this unique holiday destination. From Sydney you can take the 450 kilometre scenic drive down the Pacific Highway which hugs the coastline and passes through many fascinating coastal townships or alternatively take the Hume Highway through to Canberra and the Monaro/Snowy Mountains Highways through to Merimbula. From Melbourne it will take about 7 hours to drive to Merimbula and the only route that you can take is along the Princes Highway.
Weather : The coastal township of Merimbula on the NSW Sapphire Coast has relatively mild weather throughout the year with average maximum daily temperatures ranging from 16°C in June and July through to 25°C in January and February. There are plenty of sunny days in Merimbula, although the possibility of rain is always present with an average of between 10 and 12 rainy days each month of the year.
