Western Autralia is by far the largest state in Australia and much of it is taken up by large expanses of desert and remote wilderness areas throughout the interior. However, around the coastline there are a number of unique holiday destinations in Western Australia, each with something special to offer the holiday traveller. This ranges from the tall karri forests in the far south and the delightful wine growing region around Margaret River in the south east through to the ability to swim with the dolphins at Monkey Mia on the central coast and the remarkable natural wonders of the Kimberley region in the north. The majority of Western Australia's population and townships are located in the south east corner of the state and this is where you will find lots of places for a relaxing family holiday by the beach or romantic getaway for two. However, the northern reaches of Western Australia also have some truly beautiful scenery and unique places to visit, even if they are harder to get to.
